The Red Devils Set to Secure German Forward Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich

Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from Bayern Munich.

A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side

Schüller, who has half a year remaining on her contract, is known as a consistent goal-getter for both club and country. She has netted over 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. Her arrival will be seen as a marquee coup for the WSL side.

Her exit from Bayern has been anticipated after she was seen holding back emotions while applauding the German club’s supporters following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.

Reports in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top forwards. Per reports, all the paperwork for the move have now been completed.

Reliable Goalscoring to Strengthen the Attack

The experienced striker's signing is expected to provide a major boost to the team's attacking options. Schüller has been remarkably reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.

  • Over seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
  • She claimed the top scorer award in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Gathering Steam at Carrington

The acquisition of the German international comes at a time when the club seem to be gathering momentum.

Their recent performances feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

Off the pitch, the mid-season window has seen additional business:

  1. The signing of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
  2. The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.

On the midfielder's extension, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical component to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and skill enables her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”

The new defender, having arrived from a side from the American league, said: “You can feel how much the club have progressed in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
